To prevent air leakage through the top fabric of the mattress, an impermeable membrane is laminated to the polyester fabric. Laminating a continuous membrane instead of applying a coating eliminates the possibility of applying an uneven layer of coating, which could lead to the weakening of some parts and subsequent air leakage.

Until winter, but still light

Thanks to the chopping in the leg area and perforation with vertical and horizontal cavities, the Matrix 38 is a very light and compact mat designed for cold weather.

You must have imagined by now that the foam is porous like Emmental. It is not so. We used double punching only for less exposed places  - i.e. under the legs and head, horizontal perforation is used in the body area, which has better insulating capabilities.

The nylon screw valve is designed so that you will not lose the cap. In addition, when inflating, just push it and the valve closes, giving you plenty of time to screw it in.

Matrix mats are wider and longer and therefore suitable for users with a larger figure. If your figure is androgynous, athletic or slim, we recommend considering the Peak 38 mat, which has identical properties but a smaller surface and is therefore lighter and more packable.

Lamination

In order to prevent air leakage through the top fabric of the mattress, an impermeable membrane is laminated on the Polyester fabric. Lamination of a continuous membrane instead of applying a screed eliminates the possibility of applying an uneven layer of screed in places with material irregularities. This can lead to the application of an insufficient coating layer and air leakage in such affected areas. The use of PU foam with a thermally laminated membrane (TPU) is the highest quality material combination on the current market.

Foam

The core of every self-inflating mattress is the inner foam. Pinguin mattresses are filled with Polyurethane foam, the open pores of which retain air and thus give it excellent insulating properties. The foam has a very good shape memory, which contributes to its quick inflation and does not sag even after years of frequent use.

Valve

We purposefully use Nylon valves on our mats. The reason for their use instead of brass valves is their 100% tightness caused by the partial flexibility of the material, low weight and increased resistance to freezing. The nylon used on the valves is sufficiently strong and tough.

Combination of horizontal and vertical cavities

The combination of horizontal and vertical cavities achieves the highest possible cushioning foam of the mat. However, due to the partial reduction in the load-bearing capacity of the "double-perforated" foam, we use this combination only in those zones that are less loaded - i.e. in the head and feet area. In the most exposed zone (the area from the shoulders to the buttocks), this type of mat is lightened only by horizontal cavities, which at the same time guarantee its best insulating properties. A mat with this shaped construction is the lightest variant suitable for four-season use.
