Used materials

Duck down
RDS cerifield, hydrophobic Teflon™, 90/10

Duck down is one of the most effective natural insulators. The 90/10 blend contains 90% down and 10% small feathers, which help maintain loft and the shape of the filling.

The down is RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certified and treated with a hydrophobic Teflon™ finish that helps reduce moisture absorption and maintain insulating performance.

Nylon Ultralight DWR
Very light and sturdy nylon txtile with DWR waterresistant modification
Ripstop
is a fabric manufacturing technology designed to increase resistance to mechanical damage while maintaining weight

At regular intervals, thicker fibers forming a grid are woven transversely and longitudinally into the tropic material, thereby preventing further crack propagation if the fabric is torn.

Polyester Ultra-Lite
Soft and lightweight polyester fabric
YKK Zippers
High quality Japan zippers

The zippers of the well-known Japanese manufacturer, which is one of the best zipper manufacturer in the world. The zippers of this brand guarantee quality, long lifespan and reliability. Components of small dimensions, but of great importance, because their trouble-free functionality is often a condition of the function and usability of the whole product.

Detailed Description

Pinguin Blaze 700

A warm down sleeping bag with a spacious rectangular shape for camping, travel, hiking and hammock camping. Blaze 700 combines the comfort and freedom of movement of a rectangular sleeping bag with the thermal performance and packability of down insulation. It is suitable for use from spring to autumn, including colder nights.

It is designed for users up to 190 cm tall and, with a width of 85 cm, provides plenty of room for those who prefer more space than a traditional mummy-shaped sleeping bag offers.

700 g of RDS-certified down with hydrophobic treatment

Insulation is provided by 700 g of 90/10 duck down with a fill power of 700 cuin.

The down is RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certified and treated with a hydrophobic Teflon™ finish. This treatment helps reduce moisture absorption and allows the down to retain its loft and insulating performance better in damp conditions. It does not, however, make the down or the sleeping bag waterproof.

Cuin indicates the fill power of down, meaning the volume a given amount of down can achieve when fully lofted. Higher fill power contributes to a good balance between insulation, weight and packability.

However, fill power alone does not determine how warm a sleeping bag is. Thermal performance also depends on the amount of down, chamber construction, shape and overall design of the sleeping bag.

The number 700 in the model name refers to the amount of down insulation.

Trapezoidal chambers

The down insulation is distributed in trapezoidal chambers. Internal baffles separate the individual sections of down, helping to keep the insulation evenly distributed while reducing migration and clumping.

The chamber construction also helps minimise areas with lower insulating performance and makes efficient use of the thermal properties of the down filling.

Thermal comfort from spring to autumn

Blaze 700 has the following temperature ratings:

  • Comfort: -2 °C
  • Limit: -8 °C
  • Extreme: -27 °C

When choosing a sleeping bag, use the Comfort rating as the primary guide for normal overnight use. Limit represents a lower temperature threshold for a less cold-sensitive sleeper, while Extreme is an emergency rating and should not be considered a recommended temperature for regular sleeping.

How cold you feel is also affected by fatigue, humidity, wind, clothing and, importantly, the insulating performance of your sleeping mat.

Spacious rectangular shape

The rectangular shape provides more room to move than a traditional mummy sleeping bag and is ideal for users who prefer greater freedom while sleeping.

Blaze 700 is designed for users up to 190 cm tall, has a width of 85 cm and weighs 1325 g.

Thanks to its down insulation, it combines a spacious design and high thermal comfort with good packability.

Packability and compression sack

Blaze 700 comes with a compression sack weighing 65 g.

The Ø 22 × 36 cm dimensions refer to the sleeping bag packed in the sack before the compression straps are fully tightened. Once compressed, the packed length can be reduced to approximately 32 cm, resulting in fully compressed dimensions of Ø 22 × 32 cm.

Tip for maximum compression: First use your body weight to gradually compress the sleeping bag in the sack. Then tighten the individual compression straps gradually, working around the sack in several steps. Do not tighten one strap fully at once. Tightening the straps evenly helps achieve a smaller packed size.

The minimum packed size you can achieve may also depend on your strength and body weight. A lighter person may not be able to compress the sleeping bag quite as much as a heavier user.

Use the compression sack primarily for transport. For long-term storage, keep the down sleeping bag loosely stored so that the insulation remains uncompressed.

Rectangular design and connecting two sleeping bags

Blaze 700 is equipped with a high-quality YKK zip.

Thanks to its rectangular construction, the sleeping bag can be turned over and used as if the zip were on the opposite side. This also makes it possible to connect two compatible Blaze sleeping bags to create a shared sleeping space.

When fully opened, the sleeping bag can also be used as a spacious blanket.

Blaze 700 as a hammock underquilt

Blaze 700 can also be used as an underquilt beneath a hammock. This places the insulation underneath your body, where a conventional sleeping bag would otherwise be compressed by your weight and lose part of its insulating performance.

With its larger amount of down insulation, Blaze 700 is also suitable for hammock camping in colder conditions, where a greater thermal reserve is needed.

How to care for a down sleeping bag

After use, allow the sleeping bag to dry thoroughly and air it out. Do not store it compressed in the compression sack for long periods, as this can reduce the loft of the down insulation.

There is no need to roll the sleeping bag carefully when packing it for a trip. Gradually stuffing it into the sack makes good use of the available space and compresses the filling slightly differently each time.
